On the day

Be prepared!

When you get up in the morning you should be well rested (this is important for any exam!) and ready to walk out the door with your appropriate forms of I.D. and the examination form. Make sure to get this ready at least a couple of days before! Read through the I.D. requirements and make sure you meet all of them. Get these things ready and put them in a clear bag with you pencil, sharpener and eraser. Don't wait to get this all ready on the morning. Everything you do on the day in anticipation for the exam should make the morning as relaxed as possible. You should pick up your stuff and leave, with no rushing because you have lost or forgotten something.

Don't get loaded on caffiene before the test! It is about 4 or 5 hours of sitting and caffiene is a diuretic. You may end up losing time out of your exam in order to go to the bathroom.

Stay calm

Remember to stay calm when doing the test. You may not be thinking that it is going great, as you may be used to answering all questions with 100% certainty. In UMAT you are not going for 100% correct in absolute terms, but rather the 100th percentile. You are trying to beat the other students

Stay on the sections

In the exam, you are given a set time with each section. They are demarcated by a symbol on the top right corner. As you progress through the exam there are a few old ladies that wander up and down, silently stalking you to make sure you are on the correct page. If you are caught cheating by being on the wrong section at the wrong time then there are no excuses. You will be instantly eliminated and suddenly find your options at university somewhat restricted.

If you finish one section early just sit there and wait. Do not cheat.
